Managing Director – China Mr Chan Siu Hung attends the Release of the Initiative for Power Utilities’ Cooperation & China Southern Power Grid’s Action Plans for Supporting the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and makes a speech
On 18 March 2019, Managing Director – China of CLP Holdings Limited Mr Chan Siu Hung attended the Release of the Initiative for Power Utilities’ Cooperation & China Southern Power Grid (CSG)’s Action Plans for Supporting the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in Beijing.
The meeting followed the messages of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference to firmly execute the major decisions and plans on promoting the development of the Greater Bay Area, pool all possible intellectual and physical resources to build an open, cooperative and mutually-beneficial & complementary energy ecosystem, and strive to optimize the energy supply structure, enhance the energy system building and provide energy security guarantee, thus generating continuous drivers for the development of the Greater Bay Area.
At the event, Mr Chan was invited to make a speech, in which he gave a detailed introduction of CLP’s overall developments, related businesses and the important role of CLP in power utilities’ cooperation in the Greater Bay Area. Mr Chan’s sharing received high attention of all participating organizations and representatives. In addition, Mr Chan, on behalf of CLP, signed the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement for Power Utilities Supporting the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
CSG, together with 71 industry associations, scientific research institutes and companies, put forward the Initiative for Power Utilities’ Cooperation. Meanwhile, CSG signed the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement for Power Utilities Supporting the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with 12 power utilities, and released 26 major actions to support the development of the Greater Bay Area.
On 18 February, China’s central government issued the Outline of the Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, stating the requirement of building the Greater Bay Area into a “world-class economic cluster”. The “Initiative for Power Utilities’ Cooperation” was designed for power utilities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to work together in establishing an open, cooperative and mutually-beneficial & complementary energy ecosystem, and striving to optimize the energy supply structure, enhance the energy system building and provide energy security guarantee, thus generating continuous drivers for the development of the Greater Bay Area. CLP is one of the major members of the “Initiative for Power Utilities’ Cooperation”.
During the meeting, Mr Chan also met with the officials from government departments including State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, National Development and Reform Commission, National Energy Administration , Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Guangdong Leading Group Office for Promotion of the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and Guangdong Provincial Energy Administration, leaders of such industry associations as China Energy Research Society and China Electricity Council , as well as top management representatives of major power utilities including CSG, China Huaneng Group, China Datang Corporation, State Power Investment Corporation Limited, CHN Energy, China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) and Guangdong Energy Group.
