In India, we are one of the largest foreign investors in the power sector.  In Australia, our wholly-owned subsidiary EnergyAustralia is one of the largest integrated power companies.  As an integral part of local society and economy, we are committed to working hand in hand with the general public to create sustainable growth in these markets.

CLP China

CLP’s first entry into the China market dates back to 1979, when the Group provided electricity to Guangdong to meet the developing needs of the local economy. In 1985, we invested in the first commercial nuclear power plant in Mainland China, the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station, and have since been participating in its operations.

CLP has always been firmly committed to Mainland China’s growing energy sector, where we have performed the roles of developer, investor, project manager and operator. To date, we are one of the largest external investors in the energy sector in Mainland China, with investments in 15 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities. Our assets are distributed across North China (Beijing, Shandong, Hebei, Tianjin and Inner Mongolia), East China (Jiangsu and Shanghai), South China (Guangdong and Guangxi), Northeast China (Jilin and Liaoning), Southwest China (Guizhou, Yunnan and Sichuan), and Northwest China (Gansu). We have over 50 power generation assets in China, of which 26 are wholly-owned. Our capital investment amounts to around HK$50 billion.

CLP has always been an active participant in energy development in Mainland China. We are actively involved in the development of renewable energy projects. Our diversified portfolio includes a fuel mix of nuclear, wind, solar, hydro and coal. We enjoy sound cooperation with major players in energy and power industries in Mainland China.

With a clear investment strategy, we are committed to establishing a long-term, sustainable and sizeable presence in the Mainland power industry. We aim to manage investment projects efficiently and share technical and management expertise in addition to our experience in service excellence with our peers in Mainland China.

CLP remains steadfast in our commitment to sustainable growth and spares no effort in environmental conservation. We practise CLP culture by responsibly managing the environmental impact of our projects and operations, as well as promoting diverse community investments as a good corporate citizen.
